Hobart’s Aaron Frankcomb has stunned Colombian seventh seed Miguel Angel Rodriguez in the first round of the Bluenose Classic in Halifax on Thursday.
Frankcomb recorded his first win over the Colombian when he took the match 11-7, 5-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-7 to set up  a quarter-final against fourth seed Daryl Selby of England.
Defending champion David Palmer beat Malaysian qualifier Nafiizwan Adnan 11-9, 11-6, 11-9 and will now play another Malaysian, Ong Beng Hee in the final eight.
New South Wales qualifier Ryan Cuskelly fell to yet another Malaysian, Azlan Iskandar 11-7, 11=9, 11-5.
