The Australia Day Honours recognise the achievements of Australians on and off the sporting field.

This year’s awards focussed on recognising the sporting feats and contributions of Australia’s great sportswomen. Among other greats such as Betty Cuthbert, Evonne Goolagong-Cawley, Liz Ellis, Karrie Webb, and Susie O’Neill this year legendary squash player Heather McKay received the honour of Officer (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia Recipients.

Heather McKay AM MBE

For distinguished service to squash as an elite player and coach, as a pioneer on the professional circuit, and through support for young athletes.

Squash Australia congratulates one of our best athletes ever on this well deserved honour!
